Turn the start of every show into a check-in race

Roll call gives the opening minutes of a show a clear live interaction. Listeners press one button when they arrive, and their order becomes a check-in race. Finishing places appear live, points are banked when the show ends, and the standings carry forward to the next show.

For regular listeners, arriving on time now has a visible result that catching the show three days later does not. The race rewards the people already in the room without changing how anyone votes or watches.

Score the race and participation

Every listener who checks in earns 5 points. The podium adds a bonus based on finishing place:

• First place — 25 bonus points, 30 in total.
• Second place — 15 bonus points, 20 in total.
• Third place — 10 bonus points, 15 in total.

Participation counts too. Suggesting a segment is worth 3 points. Each upvote that suggestion receives adds 1, up to 10 in one show. Answering a poll adds 1. HeatCheck counts these during the show and banks them with the race points when the show ends.

Build badges and streaks over time

Eight badges recognise different kinds of regular. Three track attendance: Present for a first check-in, Regular at five, and Super fan at twenty. Two track the race: Podium for a top-three finish and First in for winning one. Two track consistency: Hat trick for three consecutive podium finishes and On fire for five. Centurion arrives at 100 career points.

Badges are permanent because every figure used to calculate them only grows. Recomputing after each show never removes one already earned. A listener who completed a five-show streak two years ago still keeps On fire.

See the roster and moderate the board

The host roster shows names, places, and career standings. You can recognise the person who has won four in a row by name while you are on air. Listeners see a leaderboard on the public page and can hover an entry to view that person’s career figures.

A name can be hidden from the public board, and a listener can be banned from checking in to future shows. Automatic settlement at the end of a show changes neither control, so a ban remains in place.

The public leaderboard includes display names and places only. It carries no account identifiers, so someone watching the page sees nothing beyond the name each listener chose.

Use an account only where identity is needed

Voting on the interest meter never requires an account. Roll call does because a standing that carries across shows must belong to the same person each time. An anonymous browser token disappears when someone clears their browser or changes phones.

A listener account is free, takes about twenty seconds, and offers Google sign-in first. The prompt appears only when someone tries to check in, so a listener who only moves the interest slider never sees it.

Settle the standings once

Points, places, and badges remain live and provisional during the show. They are written permanently once, when the show ends. The same happens when a forgotten show ends automatically after 24 hours, so the night still counts for the listeners who were there.

Roll call is part of the Starter plan and above, along with the suggestions board. Turn either feature on or off from the dashboard during a show, and the change reaches the audience immediately.
