For listeners
Understand anonymous voting, listener-account features, points, badges, display names, and what appears on your profile.
Do you need an account?
No — not to vote. You can open any host’s page, drag the slider, and answer polls without signing up.
A listener account unlocks:
- Checking in to a host’s roll call, and appearing on the board.
- Suggesting a segment and upvoting suggestions on a host’s live idea board.
- Points, streaks and badges that build up with each host you follow.
Voting stays anonymous either way
Signing up takes one tap and there is no password. Reach for a listener-only action on a live show — I'm here, or suggesting a segment — and a panel opens in place. Continue with Google, or enter your email and type the six-digit code we send you. HeatCheck works out a display name from your Google account or your email address, so there is usually nothing else to fill in, and whatever you were part-way through carries on once you are in.
Your profile
Your listener profile at /me opens with any live show from a host whose roll call you have attended before. It checks periodically, so one of those hosts going live appears without a page reload.
Your career
- Total points, shows attended, first/second/third-place totals, and your longest streak with any one host.
Trophy case
- The whole badge set — including the ones you have not earned, so you can see what to aim for.
A card per host
- Your record with each one, how close your next badge is, and a way through to their page.
Show history
- Your 50 most recent settled shows, newest first, with place points and participation points shown separately. The heading carries your true total when your history is longer than the visible list.
How to earn points
Check in first — everything else depends on it
Checking in
- 5 points, every time.
First place
- 30 points total.
Second place
- 20 points total.
Third place
- 15 points total.
Suggesting a segment
- 3 points.
Upvotes on your suggestion
Up to 10 per show
- 1 point each — to you, the author.
Answering a poll
- 1 point, once per poll.
Points are banked when the host ends the show, not as you go — so a night’s total appears once the show is over.
Removing your own suggestion refunds its points
Badges and streaks
Badges are earned separately with each host, while your trophy case shows every badge type you have earned anywhere. Locked badges remain visible so you can see their requirements.
Present
- Check in to one show.
Regular
- Check in to five shows with one host.
Super fan
- Check in to twenty shows with one host.
Podium
- Finish in the top three once.
First in
- Take first place once.
Hat trick
- Finish in the top three on three consecutive check-ins with one host.

Centurion

A streak counts consecutive check-ins with the same host that finish in the top three. Skipping one of that host’s shows leaves the streak unchanged; checking in and finishing outside the top three resets the current streak. Your profile keeps the longest streak you reached.
Your display name
Your display name is what appears on a host’s roll-call board and on their stream. Display names contain no spaces. Change yours in Settings; the new name is used the next time you check in.
A live check-in keeps the name it started with
Pick something you would be happy seeing on a broadcast
Roll-call boards are frequently put on stream overlays. Hosts can remove or ban a name from their own shows.
