Listener suggestions

Open a live idea board, let signed-in listeners rank suggestions, and move useful ideas into the segment queue or on air.

How it works

Switch on Listener suggestions and the Suggest a segment panel appears on the live page. Signed-in listeners submit ideas and upvote other people’s; the board ranks the most-supported ideas first.

  • One suggestion per listener at a time. They can withdraw theirs and post a different one, but they cannot flood the board.
  • Up to 120 characters. Long enough for a real idea, short enough to read on a broadcast graphic.
  • Submitting and upvoting require a listener account. Voting on the interest slider and answering polls remain anonymous.
  • Listeners cannot upvote their own idea. They can see its support and remove it when they want to submit something else.
  • The board holds up to 50 suggestions per show. This is a safety limit; removing or promoting an idea makes room again.

The board is temporary

Suggestions live for the length of the show and then go. They are a live queue, not a backlog — anything you want to keep, promote into a segment or write down.

What you can do with one

Put on air now

Creates a segment from the suggestion, activates it immediately, and removes the idea from the board.

Add to queue

Creates a segment at the bottom of your upcoming queue and removes the idea from the board, without changing what is currently on air.

Remove

Takes it off the board without using it. For anything off-topic or unusable.

Open the action menu beside an idea in the Listener suggestions panel to choose one of these actions.

What it earns listeners

For listeners who have checked in to roll call:

Posting a suggestion

3 points

Each upvote it receives

Upvote bonus capped at 10 per show

1 point to the author — never the person clicking. A board of fifty entries would otherwise make working down the list worth more than winning the check-in race.

Promoting an idea does not cost the author anything

Withdrawing your own suggestion refunds what it earned, but a host promoting or removing it does not. The points already earned remain available to settle when the show ends.

Making it work

Give it a prompt

An empty board stays empty. “Suggest what we cover in the last half hour” gets ideas; leaving the box there silently does not.

Put it on the stream

Add the suggestions widget in Settings → Stream overlays to show the leading ideas and their upvote counts. Use it when you want the room to see that suggestions are open without leaving the broadcast.

Actually promote one

Move useful ideas into the queue or put them on air. Listeners can see the board change, which confirms that the host is reviewing it rather than collecting requests with no follow-through.
